What does gratitude mean?

* This prayer is loosely translated from the Hebrew original; I did my best to keep the meaning of the words the same.

Blessed are you, King of all Kings, the Holy one, Blessed are you, Master of the world, Orchestrator of all the world, Thank you!

Thank you for the many thousands of times you have helped me, supported me, saved me, rescued me, made me happy, healed me, watched over me, and encouraged me.

THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS BEING WITH ME.

Thank you for always giving me the strength to do good deeds, strength to perform positive actions, strength to pray. Thank you for all the time you helped me when I didn’t thank you.

Thank you for the kindness that you bestow upon me every single second. Thank you for every breathe that I breathe.

And thank you, King of all Kings, for the things that I don’t have. THANK YOU FOR MAKING IT HARD FOR ME AT TIMES. Thank you for the times that I am a bit sad, because that too is for a good reason, even if I don’t always acknowledge it as such.

Deep in my heart, I  know that whatever I receive from you is the best possible that could have every come my way, and that you designed those packages only for me, with specific and complete intent, just as only the King of all Kings can do.

Thank you for making it hard for me at times, because only then do I learn to appreciate the good times; only after we find ourselves in darkness do we begin to appreciate the light.

THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS LISTENING TO MY PRAYERS.

Creator of the World, I want to ask you for forgiveness from the depths of my heart for the times that I failed to value all that you have given to me, and for the times when I complained instead of giving you my wholehearted gratitude.

I am but dust and ashes, and you are the whole world. Please do not ever abandon me. Thank you!
