When you are not ready….

What should you do when you are not ready
And your children want to play a game
You know within your heart it’s the right thing to do
You’ve got Dr. Laura Markham and others to back that up
But you are still not ready
The house is a mess
You are tired
Sweaty
Have a headache slowly creeping on
Lots of other things to do
And then you pause
Because the baby is sleeping
The house can wait
And you don’t have to be ready
But just willing
And when you look within your heart
You feel that willingness
Even without the readiness
So you play that game
And are surprised by what good players your children can be
When you are not ready
And how much fun you can have
Because you’ve given away the controls to them
And at some point during the game
You become ready
Because you want to do your best
In this game
Of motherhood
Of life
