Baby lost his shoe at his cousins wedding
Woke up at 3:00 in the morning
Screaming but I don’t think it was about his missing footwear

I’ve been trying to remember all the items for the grocery order
Because I won’t be able to get there in person
Not this week
And then I forgot the plastic cups

Mopping and sweeping and laundry
Cleaning up after poop and vomit
The stuff no one talks about
And the reason I was 15 minutes late to a zoom meeting
Mom life is catching up to me

But I did go to a Pilates class instead of doing more laundry
Went shopping for clothes instead of doing the dishes
Read several chapters of a really interesting novel
And now I’m writing this poem
A little more each time I stop at a red light

And I’m almost at work
Trying once again to balance it all
Work
Motherhood
Self care
Stress management
And all the other things I do that I can’t list right now
Because I only had two coffees this day
